Assistant Electrical Engineer, Mechanical and Electrical team
What was your route into Engineering?
I left the Army with a back injury and I wanted to pursue a career with lots of opportunities to become educated and to travel. I took up an apprentice role as an Electrical Design Engineer and I have never looked back.
Is engineering different from what you expected?
Before I joined, I didn’t fully understand what engineering entailed. As I’ve grown and spent 4 years in engineering, I have realised there is much more to the career than meets the eye. The balance between quality, cost and time needs to be ensured to guarantee a project is delivered to expectation.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of the job is being able to work on various multi-discipline projects and give my own point of view in a meeting. The opportunity to both go on-site and work in the office to complete projects makes the role very varied, which I enjoy.
What would you say to someone considering a career in engineering?
The world needs engineers to ensure the infrastructure of the world’s growing cities are built. You can become a great commodity by becoming an established engineer and most of all have a job role that brings purpose and fulfillment.
