SYSTRA Careers: A Graduate’s View 2018
PIA TILEY BASED IN OUR LEEDS OFFICE TELLS US A BIT ABOUT LIFE AS A SYSTRA GRADUATE

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2017 with a BA (Hons) Geography degree. One of the most interesting themes that emerged from my studies was the importance of mobility and how efficient, reliable transport connections between places can have a positive impact on the economy as well as improving standards of living for individuals.
This inspired me to pursue a career in transport. Transport consultancy gives me the opportunity to interact with people from different organisations from across the country, while helping to design better transport systems and encouraging people to make sustainable transport choices.
While working for SYSTRA as an Assistant Consultant, I have been lucky enough to be involved in a wide range of projects, from advising clients on the feasibility of new railway stations and helping to develop regional transport models, to assisting with the development of a parking strategy.
I work in the friendly Leeds office where everyone cares about the work that we do, and about the other people in the team. Moreover, the variety of transport planning work means that every day is different, making it a great place to work.
