SYSTRA supports British Steel Gas Main Repair
SYSTRA supports British Steel with Anchor Main Enhanced Gas Main (AMEG) Main phase 5 coating repair project
The full Gas Main measures 3.2 Kilometres in length and 2.7 metres diameter. Phases 1 – 4 were undertaken from 2013 to 2018 following the discovery of corrosion in the gas main. Phase 1 was a complete replacement, but Phase 2 used an “internal coating” method, which once successfully proven, was extended to the further phases.
From Monday the 11th May 2020 SYSTRA are assisting British Steel with conducting the coating repair on 351m of the 2.7m diameter AMEG Main - phase 5 project, in the 2020 summer shutdown, supplying Project Management, Site Management and engineering support.
Site mobilisation will start on the 15th June, with the installation of 18 temporary cabins for the workforce. Site work will commence on the 22nd June with work in preparation for the plant shutdown between the 26th July to the 5th August 2020.
A workforce of up to 60, will work two shifts to enable continuous working for the 11 day outage programme period.
