SYSTRA appoints Ben Hamer as Director of Operations, High-Speed Rail
Ben Hamer joined SYSTRA on 12th April 2021 as Director of Operations, High Speed Rail. Ben brings over 30-years of experience having worked on major projects in transport, water, maritime and building sectors throughout the world. An early technical focus in the flood and coastal risk market paved the way for Ben to lead Halcrow’s Maritime business in Europe before leading its operations and project delivery teams. Ben was part of Halcrow’s Europe Leadership Team and provided continuity in project delivery after the acquisition of Halcrow by CH2MHill, in 2011. Ben rose to Director of Project Services with CH2MHill before joining Jacobs as Director of Projects and a member of the Europe Leadership Team in 2018.
In his new role with SYSTRA, Ben will join HS2 Main Works Civils Contract (MWCC) Design JV Board. Ben will report to Steve Higham, SYSTRA’s UK Managing Director.

On his appointment, Ben Hamer said “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining SYSTRA, now that HS2’s Old Oak Common Station is commencing its construction phase and the ‘Main Works Civils North project’ is approaching the peak of detailed design. I am looking forward to supporting the delivery of this momentous project whilst growing a sustainable, profitable business.”
