Julie Carrier

Julie is responsible for strategy and growth in the company’s UK engineering business. She joined SYSTRA in 2016 as High Speed Programme Director, attracted by the opportunity to bring international, specialist expertise to the UK market, and applying learning from Europe to the UK.
She is a chartered civil engineer, with more than 25 years’ experience in infrastructure projects in the rail sector. She has worked in design and construction roles in technical and project leadership positions. Julie began her career at British Rail and has since held senior positions with Tata, Colas Rail, Amey, WSP|PB and, most recently, Transport for the North, where she led a team of diverse stakeholders to agree proposals for the Northern Powerhouse Rail programme.
Julie lives in the north of England and is an Executive Committee member of Northern Rail Industry Leaders. Passionate about rail and engineering, she is involved in a range of initiatives to attract young people, especially women, into the engineering sector. She is a regular conference speaker and industry commentator.
