IAN BYRNE - Business Director
Ian Byrne is Director for SYSTRA’s operation in Ireland and has been in this role since 2006. He has over 20 year’s professional experience in project management, transport planning, transport modelling, traffic impact assessment, traffic management and transport scheme appraisal. Ian has an excellent understanding of the interrelationship between transport modes, particularly in the context of transport strategy preparation, modelling, traffic impact, multi-modal appraisal, business case development, policy derivation and implementation. Ian has particular expertise in scheme appraisal, transport model development and application for major highway and public transport infrastructure projects as well as integrated frameworks, master plans, local area plans, traffic management plans and large scale developments from concept stage through to option consideration, scheme appraisal, business case development, planning application, EIS preparation and oral hearing.

ANDREW ARCHER - Business Unit Director
Andrew is a Project Director for Systra’s operation in Ireland, with over 17 years of diverse and challenging experience in a wide range of transportation planning, policy and engineering projects. Through his work in Europe and the Middle East, Andrew has played a major role in strategic planning and innovative design on a number of key public and private sector transportation projects including development masterplans, transport framework plans, highway scheme appraisal, and conceptual designs of transport infrastructure schemes. Andrew’s particular expertise lies in working with clients and stakeholders in a collaborative manner to develop practical and implementable strategies for large scale towns, urban regeneration projects or individual developments.

SEAN KEARNS - Associate Director
Sean is an experienced project manager and project director. He was the main technical manager for Systra during the 4-year Modelling Services Framework for the National Transport Authority. He is also a skilled analyst and modeller. For the NTA Framework Sean made a significant contribution to both the coordination and management of tasks in addition to the execution and delivery of complex data analysis and model implementation tasks. Sean has a broad knowledge of transport scheme appraisal in Ireland and was involved in numerous strategic (Galway, Cork) and local (Cherrywood, Poolbeg, Lucan, Dundrum) studies. He possesses a deep understanding of the modelling methods that support scheme delivery and planning studies and has extensive practice in the use and application of the NTA regional modelling system.

SINEAD CANNY - Associate Director
Sinéad Canny has 16 years’ experience in the field of transport planning specialising in public transport and bus planning in particular. Sinéad’s expertise ranges from strategic public transport planning and policy review through to feasibility assessment, business case preparation, service delivery and operations review. Over the last five years, Sinéad has acted as a public transport advisor to the National Transport Authority (NTA) in Ireland reviewing publicly funded transport services throughout Ireland and advising on network configuration, integration and fare and ticketing strategies.

ALISON PICKETT - Associate Director
Alison Pickett has recently joined SYSTRA’s Dublin office as an Associate Director, moving from Transport for West Midlands (UK) where she was the Head of Sustainable Travel. She has over 15 years’ experience of planning, developing, managing and delivering Sustainable and Active Travel projects in complex multi-stakeholder environments. Alison successfully grew engagement with employers across the West Midlands, working in partnership to expand the award winning Company TravelWise scheme across the region. She also oversaw the Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF) delivery of over 140 Employer Travel Plans (covering 100,000 staff) and over 50 Education Travel Plans (covering circa 20,000 staff and 150,000 students). She was also responsible for developing and expanding the West Midlands WorkWise programme which has supported over 35,000 unemployed people into new jobs.
