Woodberry Down Phases 2 & 3, Finsbury Park
The Challenge
SYSTRA was commissioned by Berkeley Homes in October 2018 to provide access and inclusive design consultancy services for Phases 2 and 3 of the redevelopment of Woodberry Down, near Finsbury Park. The separate Reserved Matters applications for Phases 2 and 3 development comprise of 275 and 590 residential dwellings respectively, alongside ground floor retail and community units and landscaped podium courtyards situated above residential parking areas.
SYSTRA’s Role
Working in collaboration with Hawkins Brown and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill as the project architects, SYSTRA were responsible for producing Access Statements for each application to detail how the principles of inclusive design were incorporated into the developments. This covered a detailed review of the residential scheme layouts in accordance with Approved Document Part M (2015).
SYSTRA advised on inclusive access matters concerning wheelchair accessible parking, drop off facilities, internal site circulation routes and gradients along with a detailed assessment of the accessibility of local transport links. The process of producing an Access Statement was key to ensuring that the built environment is safe, accessible and convenient with maximum accessibility to employment and social opportunities and facilities.
