Thameslink High Capacity Infrastructure
THE CHALLENGE
The Thameslink network links stations north and south of London. All services pass through a ‘Core Section,’ between Blackfriars and St Pancras stations, in central London. This Core Section represents a major constraint on the capacity of the Thameslink network. The Thameslink High Capacity Infrastructure (HCI) project is alleviating this constraint by using innovative ETCS Level 2 + ATO technology to increase the throughput of trains through the Thameslink Core Section.
SYSTRA’S ROLE
SYSTRA has supported Thameslink in many ways throughout the project lifecycle: review and update of technical documents; hazard identification workshops, risk assessment, safety plans and system analyses; supporting approval and standards derogation processes; human factors analysis of signalling and security control rooms.
