Paramics Discovery model informs important planning decision in Attleborough, Norfolk
The TPA London team was instructed by Attleborough Land Ltd to provide transport planning advice in support of a planning application for 4,000 houses and supporting mixed use communities on land at Attleborough, Norfolk.
The scheme had within its allocation an allowance for a link road connecting London Road in the west with Buckenham Road in the east, crossing a railway line and several water courses.
TPA successfully demonstrated when the link road was required and early mitigation measures to delay its delivery thereby increasing the schemes viability.
The historic town centre operated a one-way system with limited spare capacity. With the use of the Paramics Discovery microsimulation model, allowing for route choice and junction interaction, an evidence base was created. This illustrated that local upgrades to the town centre would provide sufficient mitigation to support up to 1,200 houses after which the link road will be delivered.
