New Civic Centre, Hounslow

The challenge

SYSTRA was commissioned in June 2015 by Notting Hill Genesis to provide transport and highways advice for an Outline application concerning the development of a new Civic Centre for the use of the London Borough of Hounslow and the re-development of the existing Civic Centre site for residential uses. The Proposed New Civic Centre Development incorporates the development of the new civic centre for the use by Hounslow council, comprising a seven storey building of office land use with a basement with a total gross floor area of approximately 16,000 square metres.

SYSTRA’s Role

SYSTRA prepared a Transport Assessment which covered integral elements to the scheme, such as trip generation, site access, servicing proposals and a sustainable transport strategy for the development.

SYSTRA also produced a Travel Plan which demonstrated the commitment to creating a sustainable development, promoting the use of walking, cycling and public transport and reducing the reliance on vehicular travel.

The new civic centre development was granted planning permission and was officially opened in April 2019 by Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.
