Long Hanborough
THE CHALLENGE
SYSTRA were appointed by CEG in April 2017 to undertake detailed design of an access into a proposed residential development comprising 120 units on the outskirts of Long Hanborough in Oxfordshire.
The appointment follows a successful planning appeal to West Oxfordshire District Council in which SYSTRA were instrumental in providing development planning services.
PROJECT FEATURES:
- A new vehicular access onto the A4095 Main Road to the west of and adjacent to Hanborough Railway Station;
- Ghost island right turn into the proposed access necessitating widening of the A4095 Main Road;
- New uncontrolled pedestrian crossings either side of the proposed access.
SYSTRA’S ROLE

- Drainage;
- Pavement construction of proposed highways and footways;
- Road markings and signing;
- Standard and construction details;
- Proposed levels and contours
In addition to a wealth of 11:45:27engineering experience, SYSTRA utilised a number of specialist software packages to prepare the detailed design submissions; including:
- PDS: a 3D highway design package which has enabled the design of the proposed road surface and outputs all relevant setting out information;
- AutoTrack: vehicle swept path analysis tool;
