Kings Cross Travel Plan Guidance

THE CHALLENGE

As one of Europe’s largest redevelopment projects up to 30,000 people are expecting to be living, working or studying in King’s Cross by the end of 2016. Camden Council needed to develop guidance for businesses moving to King’s Cross Central in how to support their staff in their journeys to work through the development of a Travel Plan and to also provide an Area Travel Plan setting out a strategy complete with sustainable travel measures to ensure each group of users were considered.

SYSTRA’S ROLE

We developed the Area Travel Plan and Workplace Travel Plan template and guidance document for businesses moving to King’s Cross Central, giving detailed guidance on drafting each element of the Travel Plan thus enabling them to continue to support staff in travelling to and from the site by sustainable means.

The Area Travel Plan received excellent feedback and sign-off from Camden Council in March 2014. As a result of the success of the Area Travel Plan and Workplace Travel Plan guidance and template Camden Council decided to use the guidance and template for developing voluntary Travel Plans throughout the Borough.
