Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach
SYSTRA was appointed by Pleasure and Leisure Corporation to produce a Transport Assessment for a major leisure development on Great Yarmouth sea front. The development seeks to provide a Super Casino, Cinema, Indoor Play Centre, 81 Bedroom Hotel and six restaurant units with supporting car and cycle parking. The scheme was granted planning permission at the July 2017 planning committee.
SYSTRA produced a Transport Assessment for the scheme which looked at the impact of the proposals on the surrounding highway network taking account of seasonal variation and cross visitation of the various land uses. The assessment also compared the impact of the scheme against a previous consent for an alternative leisure development at the site. SYSTRA worked with Norfolk County Council highways officers to agree a reduced level of car and cycle parking based on the number of uses at the site and the different times of operation. The applicant was committed to creating a sustainable development that promotes travel by more sustainable modes. As such the provision of five electric charging points were proposed at the site for the use electric vehicles.
