THE CHALLENGE

House building has continued to grow in recent years, and this year has been no exception, with surveys confirming work on residential projects rising at the fastest pace since December 2015.

One of SYSTRA’s large clients and major house builders in the UK, Persimmon Homes (West Scotland), has followed this trend and continued to flourish during this period. They have recently been granted planning permission from South Lanarkshire Council for the construction of a proposed 440 residential dwelling development off Gilbertfield Road, in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire.

The development proposals have been approved subject to several planning conditions being purified and Persimmon Homes has appointed SYSTRA to carry out the detailed designs and obtain the relevant approvals of all conditions associated with road improvement works associated with the development.

SYSTRA’S ROLE

Following on the back of the successful delivery of previous residential development schemes with Persimmon Homes Ltd, SYSTRA have been appointed to undertake the detailed design of the required road improvement works associated with the development and obtain the relevant approval from South Lanarkshire Council.

The works involved include a wide range of engineering activities, such as the detailed design of traffic calming measures, a signalised junction and new shared use pedestrian/cycleway fronting the development.
