Capital Interchange Way, Brentford
The Challenge
SYSTRA provided transport consultancy services in support of proposals for a mixed-use residential led development at Capital Interchange Way in Brentford. This project involves the demolition of the existing site, consisting of warehousing, and the construction of a multi-land use scheme consisting of a bus depot, three residential towers providing 600 homes, a cafe and office pods and associated parking at basement level. The proposed bus depot is scheduled to move from its existing location to facilitate the construction of a new school, which is much needed in the local area.
SYSTRA’s Role
SYSTRA produced a Transport Assessment, Framework Travel Plan, Environmental Statement Transport Chapter, Construction Management Plan and Delivery and Servicing Plan to support the planning application.
The scheme was GLA referable and SYSTRA undertook extensive scoping discussions with the London Borough of Hounslow as the Local Highway and Planning Authority, TfL and the GLA. SYSTRA also contributed to the design of the scheme from a transport perspective, requiring close collaboration with the project architects.
Throughout the scheme development, SYSTRA liaised closely with the London Borough of Hounslow and TfL to ensure that the scheme deliverables were transparent to all parties and to avoid any issues post-submission.
The planning application was submitted in October 2018 alongside a viability report.
