SYSTRA was the lead designer on this project, consisting of two moving grate incinerator process lines, turbine hall and tipping hall.

Capable of handling 300,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste per annum, both from municipal solid waste and industrial waste. It will be capable of generating 25MW of electricity.

The tipping hall is housed in a 230m long, 70m wide, 38m high steel superstructure, along with a 40m long, 15m high, 12m deep bunker, all within a high architectural specification along with complex curved shell.

The shell is also integrated with the process steelwork, requiring in-depth understanding and careful co-ordination of the process requirements.

SYSTRA was responsible for the civil, structural, architectural and M&E designs.

In addition, we were also responsible for the design of a new ash processing building and storage area, a visitor centre, office and administration buildings, as well as roads, drainage, and landscaping.

We conducted a detailed ground investigation of the site along with a detailed dewatering and contamination review to determine ground risk and potential impact due to dewatering on the surrounding area.

Additional services included deep bunker design, foundation solutions, geotechnical/ geoenvironmental investigation and reporting, groundwater and contamination investigation.
